Moving to England

So as you know, Jenn and I want to move to England after college. I'm very excited about it, and although we have 9 years to plan, I like learning about it now. I've done a lot of research today on moving to England, what the requirements are, little tips, things I really needed to know. And I'm going to tell you what I found out.

Important things to know when moving from the US to the UK:

1. American electric devices don't work in the UK, they have different voltages than us, so it's best to just buy your appliances there.
2. On a related note, some American Xbox games don't work in the UK either, I don't remember why, something to do with their coding. Again, it's best to just buy your games there.
3. Moving to the UK is complicated, requiring lots of paperwork to be filled out, lots of requirments to be met and lots of fees to be paid. You have to get a Visa, it can be a "student", "work", "visiting", or "joining family" Visa. To learn a bit more, I suggest you visit the UK Border Agency website right here: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/ They have a lot of information on citizenship, Visa's, etc.
4. If you plan to move into a large city like London, save up money, it's expensive living there, though not as outrageously as people think. Visa's cost a lot, and so does renting an apartment, you might want to rent a room in a shared house, it would be much cheaper.
5. You need to have a real reason for moving to the UK, like the Visa's names are, moving there for work, or to go to school, or to be with a family member that already lives there. If you don't plan on staying for longer than 6 months, it's best to just get a visitor's Visa.

I know that's not a lot, but to me it is. Enjoy!
